PSG Talon Reveals Unavailability of Over Half its Starting Roster for a Portion of Worlds 2020

PSG Talon Faces Major Handicap at Worlds 2020

PSG Talon, the second seed from the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), will begin their journey at Worlds 2020 with a significant disadvantage. Half of the team’s players will be unable to participate in the Play-In games.

Due to visa issues and travel restrictions, both of the team’s Korean players, River and Tank, will not be able to enter China in time for the tournament. Additionally, their AD carry, Unified, will only be available for a portion of the games due to strict visa requirements.

In the absence of River and Tank, AHQ’s Kongyue and Uniboy will step in as replacements for the Play-In matches. Kongyue, in particular, is renowned as the best jungler in the PCS and was named the regular season league MVP.

Machi Gaming, another representative from the PCS, will lend their substitute bot laner, Dee, to PSG Talon to fill in for the games that Unified cannot play.

If PSG Talon manages to advance to the Group Stage after the Play-Ins, they will have the opportunity to reunite their Summer Split roster and compete with their full strength.

It is unfortunate that PSG Talon is facing such challenges as they enter the biggest stage in the world of esports. Despite the setbacks, the team began the year with a star-studded roster, securing top players like Hanabi. They dominated the region, winning the Spring Split and the Mid-Season Invitational against formidable opponents. The team also received investment from Paris Saint-Germain, a prominent brand in football.

However, the Summer Split brought unexpected changes to the roster, with Candy leaving and Tank joining from Korea. This led to a lack of coordination and affected Tank’s performance due to high ping. As a result, the team didn’t perform as strongly in the Summer Split.

PSG Talon will strive to overcome the odds and advance from the Play-Ins Stage of Worlds 2020 when the tournament commences on Friday, September 25.
