Prominent Departure from SK Telecom

Chinese League of Legends Scene Takes Top Talent from Korea

China’s League of Legends scene has made big moves this offseason, acquiring star players from Korea’s top teams. While SK Telecom T1, the 2013 Riot World Champions, managed to keep most of their roster intact, they are losing three of their championship team members.

Impact’s Contract Terminated by SK Telecom T1

Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong will not be returning to SK Telecom as his contract has been terminated. Impact expressed his desire to leave the team, leading to the decision.

The Value of a Team Player

Although Impact was often overshadowed by his talented teammates, his consistent and supportive style made him a valuable asset to the team. He was known for doing the necessary work to let his teammates shine. Despite being outperformed by Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan during the current OGN preseason, losing a former world champion like Impact will still have an impact on the team.

Speculations on Impact’s Next Move

There is a lot of speculation about where Impact will end up, fueled by some Tweets hinting at an unexpected destination.

Possible Landing Spots for Impact

While China seems like the logical destination due to the money being invested there this offseason, there is also a chance that Impact could join a Western team with an open top lane spot, such as Evil Geniuses or Origen. Wherever he ends up, this marks a significant change for SK Telecom, as the team that dominated the 2013 worlds no longer exists. The current squad shares more players with SK Telecom T1 S, the sister team of Impact’s former squad.

This year, SK Telecom is determined to let Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok shine without any hindrances, including losing a veteran like Impact.
