Preview of EU LCS Playoffs

The European League Championship Series is getting ready to crown the champion of their 2016 Summer Split. Six top teams from Europe will compete in Krakow, Poland for the title. In this article, we’ll look at these teams, how they qualified, and what they bring to the table. We’ll also discuss the matchups they’ll play through to have a shot at winning the trophy.

G2 Esports

Let’s begin with the No. 1 seed, G2 Esports. They won the trophy last split and are looking to repeat. Despite their lackluster performance at the Mid-Season Invitational, they performed exceptionally well during the regular season. The collapse of their main competitor, Fnatic, has only made them look better. Expect them to shine in Poland. G2 Esports has a first-round bye and will play against the lowest-seeded team to advance from the first round.

Splyce

The No. 2 seed is Splyce. This team had a strong finish to the split, climbing up the standings as the season progressed. They started in sixth place in week two but steadily rose to second place by week eight. Splyce secured a first-round bye and will face the highest-seeded team that advances from the first round of play.

Giants

The No. 3 seed is Giants, who took advantage of Fnatic’s struggles in week nine to secure third place. Giants had a rocky start to the season but improved as the weeks went on. They play against Unicorns of Love in the quarter-finals and will face either G2 or Splyce if they win.

H2k-Gaming

H2k secured the No. 4 seed with an outstanding performance in week nine, including a win in a tiebreaker against Fnatic. Their AD Carry, Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou, returned to the starting lineup and had a perfect weekend with no practice. H2k will face Fnatic in the quarter-finals and have a chance to play against G2 or Splyce in the semi-finals if they win.

Fnatic

The No. 5 team, Fnatic, has struggled recently, parting ways with their head coach and dropping from second to fifth place. They need to find their footing and get back on track if they want a successful playoff run. Fnatic hasn’t won a series since week seven, but they will have a chance to redeem themselves as they face H2k in the quarter-finals.

Unicorns of Love

The final seeded team is Unicorns of Love, who secured their spot in the playoffs in week seven and have managed to stay in contention since then. They had some ups and downs throughout the split but managed to secure the final playoff spot. Unicorns of Love will face Giants in the quarter-finals and have a potential matchup against G2 in the semi-finals if they win.

These are the six teams competing for the championship in Poland. The action kicks off on August 13 with Unicorns of Love facing Giants, followed by the H2k-Gaming vs. Fnatic match on August 14. The semi-finals will take place on August 20 and 21, with the finals on August 28. The winner of the finals will be crowned EU LCS champions and receive a spot in the 2016 Worlds tournament.
