Power Rankings for 2019 LEC Summer Split’s First Week

Origen Fights Hard but Falls Short Against G2 in LEC Summer Split

Origen faced a tough challenge in their match against G2 in the first week of the 2019 LEC Summer Split. Despite being underdogs, Origen put up a strong fight, taking control of the early game pace. However, G2’s superior river control allowed them to secure better fight setups and ultimately claim victory. Although Origen came close, it just wasn’t enough.

LEC Power Rankings After Week One

Our analysts have ranked each team in the LEC based on their performance in the first week of the Summer Split. Here are the current rankings:

1) G2 Esports – 50 points
2) Fnatic – 43 points
3) Origen – 42 points
4) Splyce – 35 points
5) SK Gaming – 30 points
6) Team Vitality – 24 points
7) Misfits – 18 points
7) FC Schalke 04 – 18 points
9) Rogue – 10 points
10) Excel Esports – 5 points

Teams Struggling at the Bottom: Rogue and Excel

Rogue and Excel find themselves at the bottom of the standings. Both teams have only managed to secure a win against each other and have struggled against other LEC teams. Rogue was unable to keep pace with Misfits, while Excel failed to gain any jungle pressure against a Rumble comp. These teams may need to experiment with their rosters and bring in players from regional leagues to improve their performance.

Missed Opportunities for SK, Vitality, Misfits, and Schalke

SK, Vitality, Misfits, and Schalke had the chance to climb up the rankings in week one but failed to capitalize on their opportunities. SK lost to Fnatic, whom they had beaten twice in the previous split. Vitality suffered two losses but were given a pass by our analysts for having an off week. However, their jungle control needs improvement in order to secure wins. Misfits had a chance to defeat Fnatic, who looked shaky, but couldn’t achieve victory. Schalke’s win against Excel was overshadowed by their loss to SK. It may take a streak of wins for one of these teams to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Playoff Contenders: Fnatic, Origen, and Splyce

Fnatic, Origen, and Splyce, as veteran playoff teams, still appear to be a level above the competition. While none of them looked particularly dominant, they showed professionalism and the ability to bounce back from difficult situations. Fnatic, for example, managed to win a game against Misfits despite a major teamfight throw. Origen and Splyce both lost to G2, but it’s expected considering G2’s current dominance.

G2: The Reigning Kings of Europe

G2 continues to reign as the top team in Europe. While other top teams are struggling with a post-MSI hangover, G2’s playstyle has evolved to allow them to take risks and win fights even if they don’t always come out on top. Origen put up a good fight with their strong early game, but G2’s river control gave them the edge. It will take a formidable team to dethrone G2, both in the LEC and on the international stage.
