Korean League of Legends Team Longzhu Gaming Could Have New Owner
Popular Korean League of Legends team Longzhu Gaming may soon have a new owner, according to a report from Korean news site KukiNews.
KSV eSports Considered as Potential Acquirer
It is believed that KSV eSports, an organization backed by Silicon Valley, is considering acquiring the team. KSV recently secured the South Korean Overwatch League team slot and named the franchise Seoul Dynasty. The league’s pre-season begins on Dec. 6, with the first season taking place in LA to allow organizations to establish their infrastructures in their home cities.
Longzhu Gaming’s Recent Success
Longzhu Gaming recently emerged as champions of the LCK Summer Split after defeating the current World Champions SK Telecom T1. Although they entered Worlds 2017 as the number one LCK seed and finished first in their group, Longzhu was eliminated in the quarterfinals by fellow LCK team Samsung Galaxy.
When asked about the potential acquisition, the vice president of KSV eSports, Philip Hyun, declined to comment.
Potential for Future Domination
If KSV does acquire Longzhu Gaming, they will have one of the strongest LCK lineups in recent history. With additional investment, they could potentially rival SKT domestically and internationally for years to come.
