Popular bottom lane combo appears in 9 out of the first 13 games in the2023 LCK Spring Split

The Meta Takes Shape in 2023 LCK Spring Split: Lucian and Nami Dominate the Bottom Lane

The first week of the 2023 LCK Spring Split is almost over, and the meta is already becoming clear. In the bottom lane, one duo is standing out as the top picks for marksmen and supports in the region.

Over the past few seasons, Lucian and Nami have been the go-to choices for bot lane players worldwide, thanks to their strong laning capabilities. This season, they have once again risen to the top and have been played in nine out of the LCK’s first 13 games, making them the priority picks in many drafts.

Lucian has been picked or banned in every game so far, with a 100 percent presence in the draft and an impressive 89 percent win rate, according to the League of Legends esports stat aggregate Oracle’s Elixir. He leads all champions with 51 kills, 8.2 KDA, and a 74.2 percent kill participation, making him the most dominant champion in his class.

Nami and Lucian’s strength lies in their ability to take control of the lane from level two onwards. They gain a power spike and kill potential by combining Tidecaller’s Blessing, Electrocute, and Lucian’s two-hit passive. By empowering Lucian with her E, he can dash forward, auto attack an enemy twice, and unleash a burst of damage in a split second.

This burst of damage can often secure a favorable trade or even win the lane outright. If the opposing laners sustain a significant amount of damage, they will either have to play extremely safe and miss farm or recall to base to heal, sacrificing farm in the process. This combo is easy to execute and doesn’t require much mechanical skill or timing.

The only other AD carry champion that comes close to rivaling this dominance in the draft is Zeri, who has been the most-played champion in the league with 10 games played. However, Zeri has a disappointing 10 percent win rate and a measly 1.1 KDA. Fortunately, Riot Games will be nerfing Lucian and Nami in Patch 13.2 to bring some variety to the meta.
