Alleged Death Threats Against T1’s Faker Being Investigated by Police

Seoul police are taking immediate action in response to alleged death threats targeting T1 League of Legends star mid laner Faker. According to a report from Yonhap News, local police were seen stationed outside T1’s headquarters this morning.

The threats, which were made on Thursday evening and posted online, indicated that the perpetrator planned to visit the T1 dormitory and harm Faker. The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency is currently investigating the case, with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency working to identify the individual through IP address tracking.

T1 has reported the incident to the police, describing the comments as “disgraceful.” The organization is taking steps to ensure the safety of its players throughout the remainder of the LCK playoffs. In response, the LCK has also committed to enhancing security at LoL Park for the rest of the season and the upcoming Worlds 2023, following a series of recent violent incidents and threats.

Recent news reports have highlighted a rise in stabbing incidents in South Korea, including the stabbing of a teacher in Daejeon and a separate incident near a train station in Seongnam.

Faker and T1 are preparing for their upcoming LCK playoff match, which will determine their chances of qualifying for Worlds 2023. Faker recently returned from an arm injury that caused him to miss most of the final month of the regular season.
