Pobelter to Sit Out of LCS Spring Split, yet Remains Uncertain about Retirement

Eugene “Pobelter” Park announces break from LCS for 2020 Spring Split

LCS veteran Eugene “Pobelter” Park has revealed that he will not be participating in the LCS for the upcoming 2020 Spring Split. In a recent Twitlonger post, Pobelter expressed the emotional impact of being overlooked by teams during the busy offseason. Despite being a former mid laner for Team Liquid just two seasons ago, Pobelter is currently without a team. However, the 23-year-old is not ready to retire just yet.

While Pobelter finds it “crazy” that he wasn’t signed to a team, especially when he was willing to take a pay cut or go through tryouts, he remains determined to make a comeback in North America’s premier league.

“I still believe that I’m one of the best players,” Pobelter stated. “It saddens me to see that the general opinion is that I’m only ‘good enough for NA’ and cannot perform internationally. By the way, I don’t think I’ve reached my peak yet. I believe that the decline only comes when your motivation and drive wanes, and I’m still as motivated as ever, willing to practice for 12+ hours a day.”

Pobelter’s Journey and Achievements

In the 2019 season, Pobelter played with FlyQuest, which achieved fourth place in the Spring Split Playoffs but dropped to ninth place in the summer. Prior to joining FlyQuest, Pobelter was the starting mid laner for Team Liquid. During his time with Liquid, Pobelter secured victory in the 2018 Spring and Summer Split Playoffs, marking the organization’s first two domestic titles.
