Pobelter reveals emotional breakdown due to pressure of playing for CLG

Eugene “Pobelter” Park’s Emotional Breakdown Before Last Match with Counter Logic Gaming

Eugene “Pobelter” Park revealed on social media that he broke down in tears the morning before his final match with Counter Logic Gaming (CLG). The League of Legends team has been struggling this season and currently holds the last position in the North American league with a 10-29 record.

Pobelter cited a negative and doomed team environment as the reason behind his emotional breakdown. He believes that no one can succeed or play with confidence under such circumstances. The extreme pressure led to performance issues within the squad, ultimately resulting in Pobelter being replaced by Tanner Damonte on July 16.

Prior to his last match against Dignitas on July 11, Pobelter shared that he had a breakdown in front of coach Galen “Moon” Holgate. The past few weeks had brought increasing misery, making him feel like nothing was going right. This was a feeling he had never experienced in his seven-plus years as an LCS pro.

A now-deleted video captured the negative environment that Pobelter had described. CLG also released a behind-the-scenes look at a private team meeting, where general manager Daniel “Tafokints” Lee discussed potential changes to the starting roster. Tafokints stated that roster swaps were being considered due to the lack of progress over the past two months.

CLG later apologized for the video, acknowledging the negative light it brought to their players and taking it down. The organization’s intention was to share an authentic moment and be transparent with their fans.
