Phroxzon and Phreak Assume New Responsibilities at Riot for LoL 2024 Preseason

League of Legends Balance Team Undergoes Major Changes Ahead of Preseason 2024

The League of Legends balance team has undergone significant changes in preparation for the upcoming preseason in 2024. Phroxon, who was previously part of the team, has been promoted to lead gameplay designer, while Phreak will now serve as the live balance design lead.

“I have the privilege of following in the footsteps of previous giants who held this role, such as Axes, Scruffy, and Meddler,” wrote Phroxon. “I will continue to play a crucial role in preseason and live pod design, working closely with Design leads to determine overall direction and ensure high-quality design changes.”

SolCrushed, a former member of the Wild Rift team, will also be joining the League of Legends team as the preseason design lead.

Phreak’s journey in esports has been quite surprising. He initially started working as a caster for League of Legends in 2009 and later joined the development team as a game designer in 2022. Now, he will have a significant impact on shaping the next season.

The news of these changes has been met with a positive response from the community, including streamers and professional players. Some enthusiasts have even expressed their desire for Phreak to start a podcast where he can discuss his journey at Riot Games and provide more insights into his work.

The 2024 preseason for League of Legends is set to launch on November 20. It will bring numerous changes to the game, offering a fresh and exciting experience for players. However, the exact details of these changes have yet to be revealed.

On September 27, players noticed some potential changes on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) that might be implemented in the preseason. These changes include a rework for the champion K’Sante and significant alterations to starting items, Smite, and the jungle.

According to the preliminary changes, players will no longer be able to use Smite on lane minions or pets. Additionally, the damage it deals to champions will be reduced. More information regarding these changes is expected to be shared in the coming weeks as we approach the launch of the preseason.
