G2 Esports Star Perkz Returns to Starting Lineup for LEC Summer Split Week Five
G2 Esports’ star AD carry, Perkz, has announced his return to the team’s starting lineup for week five of the 2020 LEC Summer Split after taking a week off from competitive play.
Perkz’s Break and Personal Loss
Two weeks ago, Perkz revealed that he was temporarily stepping back from professional League of Legends due to difficulties in dealing with stress. This decision came shortly after he shared the news of his father’s passing.
Substitute ADC P1noy Steps In
During Perkz’s absence, substitute ADC P1noy filled in for G2 Esports in week four. The 24-year-old veteran played against Misfits Gaming and Excel Esports, winning against Misfits but facing difficulties against Excel.
Support from Teammates
Perkz’s teammates expressed their support for his decision to take a break, as they too are trying to avoid burnout during this split. In a post-game interview, Jankos, G2’s superstar teammate and jungler, mentioned that the team has been taking a more relaxed approach to both the 2020 Spring and Summer Splits, reducing their solo queue play as well.
Challenging Matches Ahead
Perkz will be returning to face tough opponents in week five, including MAD Lions, who are currently tied for first place in the LEC, as well as Origen, who recently added veteran support Jactroll to their starting lineup. G2 is currently tied for third place with Misfits, holding a 5-4 record in the regular season standings.
Don’t miss the action when the LEC resumes on Friday, July 17.
