Perkz expresses worries about EMEA Champions Queue time slots: ‘It’s much better for your well-being not to play until 2am’

EMEA Champions Queue Start Time Concerns Pros and Fans

League of Legends players in the EMEA region now have access to the highly anticipated Champions Queue. However, there are concerns about the scheduled start time, raised by both fans and players.

Last night, during the Post Game Lobby after the second day of the 2023 LEC Winter Split, Team Vitality’s mid laner Perkz expressed his dissatisfaction with the start time of the upcoming EMEA Champions Queue. The queue is scheduled to begin tomorrow evening and will run from 10pm CET (3pm CT) to 2am CET (7pm CT) on Tuesdays through Fridays.

Perkz and many other pro players feel that playing high-level League games late at night into the early morning is not ideal. He suggested that Riot move the starting time back an hour to allow players to play one or two games without fatigue.

“A lot of pro players want to go to bed by 12am or 12:30am and not play Champions Queue until 2am,” Perkz said. “I think it’s just way more healthy for us humans to not have to play until 2am. Now I can queue up for one game, maybe two, and it’s like 12am.”

Fans have gathered in a Reddit thread to support Perkz’s sentiment, especially considering the massive delays in the first week of the 2023 LEC Winter Split, which have already prevented early nights for the players.

The Champions Queue initiative, which started in North America last year, allows LCS, Academy, and amateur players to play against each other on an exclusive server with dedicated time slots. However, the lack of usage and other issues have led to debate among fans and players.

The EMEA Champions Queue will begin with the current start time, but changes may be made based on feedback, similar to the adjustments made in North America.
