Riot Games Releases New Lore Update for Zed’s Galaxy Slayer Skin
Riot Games has recently released a new lore update featuring the backstory of Zed’s highly-anticipated Galaxy Slayer skin. The update also includes an addition to the Odyssey skin universe.
According to the skin’s new bio, Zed was raised by the Templar Order until he was attacked by the Demaxian Empire. During the attack, Zed was forced to kill one of the legendary megafauna. The creature exploded, and Zed absorbed its ora, surviving the explosion but developing a maniacal view of the universe. He now seeks to eliminate weakness from the world.
The Odyssey skin universe was introduced during last year’s surprise Odyssey event. The event included six new skins, a new game mode, and event-themed merchandise. In the game mode, players could choose between Sona, Yasuo, Malphite, Ziggs, or Jinx to battle the evil Kayn and rescue Sona from the Morning Star crew.
Although Riot Games has not officially announced a new Odyssey event, fans speculate that a new event featuring Galaxy Slayer Zed as the antagonist may be on its way. The release of the Galaxy Slayer Zed skin has sparked hopes for a second surprise event similar to last year’s popular Odyssey mode.
Galaxy Slayer Zed, priced at 1,800 RP, is Zed’s first legendary skin and includes its own voiceover. The official release date for the skin has not been announced, but it is expected to go live during the 9.8 patch cycle.
