Patch 7.21 Tomorrow: Nerfs Expected for Sejuani, Rammus, and the Ardent Censer

League of Legends Patch 7.21: Nerfs Incoming for Sejuani, Ardent Censer, and Rammus

Tomorrow is set to be an exciting day for League of Legends fans as Patch 7.21 arrives. This patch brings nerfs to Sejuani, the Ardent Censer, and Rammus.

Sejuani, the third tank from the Midseason Update earlier this year to receive major nerfs, has dominated the jungle meta for the past four months. Despite her late-game strength, her early game is too impactful, allowing her to overcome high-damage early game junglers. These upcoming nerfs should bring her back in line.

The Ardent Censer has been dominating the support meta throughout the summer and fall seasons. If you’re not playing a support champion that can build the Ardent Censer, you’re already at a disadvantage. This powerful item has been a focal point of the support role, and its nerfs should shake up the meta.

Rammus, while not as much of a problem as Sejuani or the Ardent Censer, has still been too strong in many situations without any major weaknesses. With these nerfs, Rammus should become more balanced.

Nerfs to the Ardent Censer: Shifting the Meta

The issues with the Ardent Censer are clear. When supports prioritize purchasing this item over a Sightstone, it’s obvious that the meta has become unbalanced. In a previous attempt to address this, Riot tweaked the item’s strengths in Patch 7.19. However, this only exacerbated the problem. Now, in Patch 7.21, the Ardent Censer is receiving significant nerfs. The attack speed buff is reduced from 20-35 percent to 10-30 percent, making it weaker during the early game. Additionally, the on-hit magic damage is reduced from 20-35 to 5-20. These changes will greatly impact the enchanter meta of supports.

Nerfs to Sejuani: Balancing Early Game Power

Sejuani’s early game power has been overwhelmingly strong for a scaling champion. With these nerfs, her early game will be the primary focus. Base stat changes include a reduction in her base armor, armor per level, base magic resist, and magic resist per level. These changes will make her jungle clear weaker and leave her vulnerable to invades and counterganks. Sejuani will no longer be a safe pick.

Nerfs to Rammus: Balancing for Team Composition

Rammus, designed as a counter to heavy AD team compositions, has proven to be strong against any type of team. In Patch 7.21, his changes aim to make him less effective against magic compositions while further solidifying his role as an anti-AD tank. The MR bonus from his Defensive Ball Curl will scale from 25 to 45 percent, down from 50 to 70. His base MR is also reduced from 20 to 10. On the other hand, his bonus armor will increase from 50 to 70 percent to 50 to 90 percent. These changes will make Rammus weaker against mages but stronger against AD champions.

With these upcoming changes, the League of Legends meta should see some significant shifts. Stay tuned for Patch 7.21 and see how these nerfs impact the game!
