Only six players have accurately predicted the outcome of the League World Championship thus far.

The League of Legends World Championship and Its Surprising Upsets

The League of Legends World Championship has seen numerous upsets and unexpected performances that have left fans shocked. These unexpected results have also affected participants in Riot’s Pick’Em challenge, with only six people successfully predicting the teams that would advance from the group stage.

The Pick’Em challenge allowed participants to make predictions about the tournament’s outcome, with developer Riot Games offering in-game rewards for those who accurately predicted the group stage. Out of the approximately 1.8 million participants, only six players managed to predict the results correctly, accounting for a mere 0.00032%.

The reason behind such a small number of accurate predictions is mainly attributed to the surprising success of Wildcard team Albus NoX Luna in Group A. Albus NoX Luna defeated Counter Logic Gaming and tournament favorites ROX Tigers, securing their spot in the quarterfinals. According to an article by LoL eSports’ Paul Marshall, only 4.9% of the Pick’Em predictions remain untarnished, with Albus NoX Luna’s advancement ruining 95.1% of the predictions. It is impossible to ascertain the seriousness of the picks made by these six players, considering the unforeseeable and exceptional performance by Albus NoX Luna.

After two weeks of intense group stage matches, the Worlds quarterfinals will commence on October 14th, starting with Samsung Galaxy facing off against Cloud9.
