Only one Western League of Legends star made it into IWillDominate and YamatoCannon’s Worlds rankings.

Worlds 2023 Power Rankings: Only One Western Player Makes the List

The highly anticipated Worlds 2023 tournament in League of Legends is set to kick off on Oct. 10. As we approach the event, many content creators, including IWillDominate and YamatoCannon, have released their power rankings. Surprisingly, only one Western player has managed to make the list.

G2 Esports’ Mikyx is the sole representative from the West in the combined power rankings of YamatoCannon and IWD. Despite some differences in player rankings between the two creators, they both placed Mikyx in the 23rd spot, resulting in his overall placement at 21st.

A Western Hope Among World-Class Stars

The global power rankings compiled by IWD and YamatoCannon primarily feature top-tier players from LCK and LPL. Superstars like Ruler, Scout, Chovy, Knight, and 369 dominate the rankings. While the LEC and LCS may not have many players on this list, it doesn’t mean Western teams are incapable of surprising at Worlds 2023.

Previous years have seen Western organizations like G2 and Cloud9 exceed expectations and qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. This year’s new format, however, requires teams to win three matches to advance.

G2 Esports: A Force to be Reckoned With

G2 enters Worlds 2023 as LEC’s first seed after their victory over Fnatic in the 2023 LEC Season Finals last month. Unsurprisingly, they are considered one of the favorites to cause an upset. Mikyx’s outstanding form and considerable experience solidify his position as one of the best Western players at the event.

Despite the lack of representation in the power rankings, Western teams still have the potential to make their mark on the global stage at Worlds 2023.
