2022 League of Legends Worlds Quarterfinals Recap: Perfect Pick’Ems and Surprises
Only a few players remain with the perfect Pick’Ems after the eventful quarterfinals of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.
With the quarterfinals over, only eight players are still in the running for the perfect picks and the accompanying rewards. These players have correctly predicted every outcome and have accumulated 104 points each.
Before the knockout stage, 23 individuals had successfully predicted the tournament’s results and maintained their perfect Pick’Ems. However, 15 of them placed their bets on teams that lost in the quarterfinals.
In terms of results, the quarterfinals were relatively predictable. JD Gaming, T1, and Gen.G were all favorites to win their matches and did so convincingly, with JD Gaming and T1 securing 3-0 sweeps. The only close series was between DWG KIA and Gen.G, which went to five games before Gen.G emerged victorious.
The only upset in the knockout stage came from DRX, who defeated the defending champions EDward Gaming. DRX staged an impressive comeback, winning three consecutive games after initially losing the series. This victory marks Deft’s second semifinals run in Worlds history and is a significant milestone for the team.
With only eight perfect Pick’Ems left, it’s unlikely that every player will correctly predict the remaining matches. The semifinals are highly competitive, and it’s challenging to determine a clear winner for either series. It’s probable that at least one player will stumble and break their perfect streak.
The semifinals of Worlds 2022 will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29.
