Olaf Dominates League of Legends Meta Following Mid-Scope Update

Introducing the New King of the League of Legends Metagame

Olaf, the unstoppable viking, has risen to the top of the Season 12 leaderboard after his highly-anticipated ‘mid-scope update’. And it seems like he has no intention of relinquishing his newfound throne any time soon.

After receiving a rework in Patch 12.9, Olaf has soared in the metagame rankings and currently boasts an impressive 53.71 percent win rate across all skill levels. You can check out the details on lolalytics.com.

Earlier in Season 12, Olaf had lost his position in the League meta and struggled to make an impact in both the jungle and solo lanes. To address this, the Riot Games development team implemented a significant update on May 11, enhancing Olaf’s abilities and stats. Since then, Olaf’s win rate has seen an increase of 10 percent.

As of May 24, Olaf wins 53 percent of solo queue matches in the top lane, up from 43 percent earlier this month. In the jungle, he secures victory in 51 percent of games.

Olaf’s Rise to Power

Olaf’s greatest surge in popularity came in the top lane, thanks to the Riot development team’s improvements to his ultimate ability. His ultimate now grants indefinite duration if he continues to attack enemies, making him a formidable force in solo lanes.

Once Olaf reaches level six, he becomes a threat to his top lane opponents and can easily overpower them. Additionally, his Tough It Out ability now includes a shield, enhancing his dueling power and making him capable of outlasting most League threats.

However, with the upcoming durability changes in Patch 12.10, it remains to be seen if Olaf will retain his dominance in the League. As a champion focused on accumulating power through extended teamfights, Olaf’s playstyle may align well with the evolving meta.

Patch 12.10 is scheduled to go live on May 25, bringing further changes to the game and shaking up the current state of play.
