Nunu’s Rise from Worst to Best Jungler Overnight: Patch 8.2 Impact

Yeti-riding Nunu Takes Over League of Legends Meta

Nunu, the snowball-throwing jungler in League of Legends, has quickly become the dominant force in the game. With the recent buff in Patch 8.2, Nunu went from being the worst performing jungler to the top performer, according to stats from Champion.gg. In fact, he now has the highest win percentage out of all the champions in the game. The buff was definitely a bit too much.

Nunu’s Insane Buff

In case you missed it, Nunu’s Blood Boil and Well Fed passive abilities were drastically buffed in the latest patch. The Blood Boil now increases an ally’s total AP by 40 percent, as well as Nunu’s own. Well Fed also grants Nunu on-hit magic damage scaling based on a percentage of his AP, along with a small flat damage rate.

With these changes, Nunu can easily grant himself and his allies massive amounts of AP with just one ability. This makes him a highly effective and powerful pick, especially when paired with champions like Azir and Diana who benefit greatly from AP and attack speed.

Possible Hotfix Nerf

It’s likely that Riot will hotfix Nunu to bring him back to a balanced state. This wouldn’t be the first time he received an immediate hotfix nerf after a major buff. The last time this happened was in July when his Well Fed ability was changed. However, Riot could also choose to let Nunu remain overpowered until a major update.

Rest assured, though, that Riot will eventually find the right balance for Nunu. They always do. (URL: YoutubeVideoURL)
