Nuguri, Damwon’s top laner, undergoes surgery for collapsed lung; Worlds trip postponed by a week.

Damwon Gaming’s Top Laner Nuguri Undergoes Surgery for Collapsed Lung

Damwon Gaming’s star top laner, Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, recently experienced health issues following the LCK finals against DRX a few days ago. The official statement from Damwon, translated by Korizon’s Ashley Kang, revealed that Nuguri was diagnosed with a collapsed lung and underwent urgent surgery. The surgery was successful, and Nuguri is currently recovering well. However, his planned trip to China for Worlds will be delayed.

Delayed Trip to China for Worlds

According to Ashley Kang, Damwon is set to fly out to China on September 11, two weeks before the 2020 League of Legends World Championship starts on September 25. Nuguri, on the other hand, is expected to check out of the hospital on September 13 and join his team on September 18. It remains uncertain how this situation will affect Damwon, as the Worlds group draw show is scheduled for September 15, where the team’s starting matches will be determined.

Potential Impact on Damwon’s Performance

While Damwon has a substitute top laner, Lee “Flame” Ho-jong, who last played professionally over a year ago, there are concerns about the team’s performance without Nuguri. With Nuguri’s outstanding contributions to the team’s success this year, Damwon’s performance at Worlds may be affected if his health prevents him from playing.

Worlds 2020 Schedule

The 2020 League of Legends World Championship will start on September 25 and run through October 31.
