NRG makes a comeback in League of Legends with acquisition of VCS’ GAM Esports

NRG Esports Returns to League of Legends with Acquisition of GAM Esports

NRG Esports, after a four-year absence from professional League of Legends, has announced its comeback by acquiring GAM Esports, Vietnam’s best team and the reigning champions of the 2021 VCS Spring Split. NRG has partnered with Vietnamese entertainment company CMG.ASIA to form NRG Asia, and their first move is to add GAM to their roster for the upcoming season. The organization aims to provide top-quality training, resources, and infrastructure to the team, with the goal of making another World Championship appearance. (source: CMG.ASIA)

NRG Goes Global with NRG Asia and GAM Esports

The NRG family is expanding globally with the launch of NRG Asia and the addition of GAM Esports. NRG’s CEO, Andy Miller, stated that Vietnam was chosen as the starting point for their global expansion due to the immense passion for esports in Southeast Asia. The partnership between CMG.ASIA and NRG Esports’ co-founder Mark Mastrov played a significant role in the decision. (source: NRG Twitter)

NRG’s Previous League of Legends Endeavor and GAM’s Dominance

In 2016, NRG had a professional League of Legends team in the North American LCS, but they were eventually relegated out of the league. On the other hand, GAM Esports has consistently been one of the top teams in Vietnam, winning the VCS Spring Split 2021 with an impressive 13-1 record. They have also garnered a substantial fan following worldwide through their performances at various World Championships.

A Promising Future for GAM with NRG’s Support

With NRG’s support and resources, GAM Esports has the potential to return to the World Championship stage. Fans can look forward to seeing them compete at the highest level when October arrives.
