Notable Teams in the 2020 Worlds Play-In Stage

The Excitement Builds for the League of Legends World Championship Play-in Stage

The highly anticipated League of Legends World Championship is just around the corner. But before the main event kicks off on Oct. 3, teams will battle it out in the play-in stage for the final four spots in the group stage. The play-in stage begins on Sept. 25, one week before the Worlds group stage.

Don’t underestimate the talent and potential that the play-in stage has to offer. There will be some incredible gameplay and star power on display during this initial phase of the tournament.

Keep an Eye on These Contenders

While there are 10 teams competing for the final four spots, there are a few contenders that you should definitely keep an eye on during the first week of play at Worlds 2020.

MAD Lions

MAD Lions had an exceptional season in the LEC, finishing in the top three of the league in the Spring Split and top four in the summer. Despite barely making it into Worlds, MAD Lions are a cut above the rest in the play-in stage. With breakout stars like Shad0w, Orome, and Carzzy leading the way, MAD Lions are a young and promising team.

Despite their lack of experience compared to teams like Team Liquid or LGD Gaming, MAD Lions pose a serious threat. They have already proven themselves in one of the strongest regions in the world and now have the opportunity to showcase their skills at the World Championship.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid, with their limitless potential and dominant performance in North America, is expected to perform well in the play-in stage. With veterans like Impact, Jensen, and CoreJJ, as well as promising rookies like Tactical, Team Liquid has a strong roster with players who have been to Worlds before. This talented team is a heavy favorite to advance to the group stage.

Papara SuperMassive

SuperMassive, representing the TCL, has put together a strong roster for Worlds 2020. With veterans like Zeitnot and newly imported additions SnowFlower and Bolulu, SuperMassive has the experience and talent to make a deep run in the play-in stage. The addition of former KT Rolster legend KaKAO has elevated their gameplay, making them a team to watch.

LGD Gaming

Returning to the World Championship for the first time in five years, LGD Gaming aims to rewrite history. After a disappointing performance in Worlds 2015, LGD has a chance to redeem themselves. With players like xiye and Peanut, who have both been to Worlds before, LGD is determined to make a statement on the international stage.

Get ready for an action-packed and exciting play-in stage as these teams battle it out for a spot in the group stage of the League of Legends World Championship.
