Nisqy’s Aatrox carries Cloud9 to their first victory in the 2019 LCS Spring Split against 100 Thieves

Mixed Results for 100 Thieves in LCS Season Opener

The highly-anticipated 100 Thieves roster faced a defeat against Team SoloMid in their League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) season opener. This raised questions on how they would perform against Cloud9, a team that reached the World Championship semifinals last year.

Unfortunately, it was clear that even with two-time world champion Bae “Bang” Jun-sik, 100 Thieves couldn’t match up to Cloud9’s relentless pressure. Cloud9’s dominance began in the mid lane as Yasin “Nisqy” Dincer secured the first kill of the game against 100 Thieves’ Choi “Huhi” Jae-hyun. Nisqy continued to snowball and finished the game with six kills and no deaths.

100 Thieves faced additional challenges throughout the game. Huhi made a crucial mistake by teleporting to his team’s Nexus turret during a teamfight in the top lane. Bang also struggled against Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi’s Ezreal, managing to score only one kill against Cloud9.

Cloud9’s lead grew to 7,000 gold by the 20-minute mark, and they swiftly closed out the game in just over 25 minutes. With a 0-2 record, 100 Thieves will have the opportunity to secure their first win next week against Team Liquid. However, this match may not be in their favor as Team Liquid are the defending champions of the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split and have shown strength in the current season as well.
