Next patch brings a resurgence of Jungle Ekko

Jungle Ekko Making a Comeback in League of Legends

A recent string of PBE updates suggests that the flavor of the month jungle pick in the upcoming League of Legends patch might be Jungle Ekko.

Last year, Ekko fell out of favor as Riot made adjustments to his base damage, shifting him from an AP assassin to a utility tank. However, for many players, the tank build was the only viable option for him in the jungle. When tank Ekko was no longer viable, jungle Ekko disappeared as well.

But now, it seems like Jungle Ekko is making a comeback as an AP assassin, joining the ranks of Elise and Evelynn in the AP jungling department.

One of the key changes is that his passive ability, Z-Drive Resonance, will now deal double damage to monsters, significantly improving his camp clear speed. While it is still uncertain if this change will be implemented in the next patch, it is evident that Riot is determined to enhance his jungle power. This marks the third Ekko jungle buff iteration on the PBE in the past week.

The initial buff doubled the passive damage to monsters, similar to the current PBE version, but it was later removed and replaced with another buff. The second iteration removed the internal five-second cooldown from the passive, but only when targeting monsters and minions. Yesterday, the second buff was reverted, and the first buff was reintroduced. In any case, it seems like Jungle Ekko is on its way back.

The patch is expected to go live next week.
