New visual effects are added to Sheen items in League of Legends

Sheen items in League of Legends will receive new visual effects for their Spellblade passive, according to a recent post on the official game forums by Riot. The Trinity Force, Lich Bane, Iceborn Gauntlet, and Sheen will all have updated effects. These items have been popular in the game for its entire nine-year history. The Spellblade passive enhances the power of the next basic attack after using an ability, and it is a key feature of these four items.

It is surprising that Sheen, with its popularity and history, has not received new visual effects before. A comparison of the new and old effects shows that the icons are not the only things that seem outdated.

Lich Bane:
The new visual effects for Lich Bane are also showcased in the images.

Iceborn Gauntlet:
The updated visual effects for Iceborn Gauntlet can be seen in the images as well.

Riot has only provided an animated preview of the new effect for Tri-Force, but it is likely that the Lich Bane and Iceborn items will have similar pulsing and glowing elements. Riot is confident in moving forward with these changes and they should be available on the PBE soon for testing.

There are other item visual effects that also need updates, such as the Blade of the Ruined King active effect, the arrows from the Runaan’s Hurricane passive, and the outdated spooky ghosts from Twin Shadows. Hopefully, these changes will be addressed after the Sheen updates are implemented.

If the Sheen changes are shipped to the PBE soon, they will likely be part of the Patch 8.15 testing cycle, meaning they will be released in about three weeks.
