New Riot short story showcases Udyr, Sejuani, and Volibear

New Short Story Reveals Backstory for Udyr, Sejuani, and Volibear

Riot Games has published a new short story today, titled “Silence for the Damned,” which delves into the backstory of Udyr, Sejuani, and Volibear. Written by Riot’s senior narrative designer Odin Shafer, the story explores Udyr and Sejuani’s conquest of a nearby city and their alliance with Volibear, who is referred to as the “bear of storms and wilds” by Udyr.

A Different Depiction of Volibear

Interestingly, the short story paints a different picture of Volibear compared to his current portrayal in the game. The narrator describes Volibear as having four eyes and half of his face “stripped of flesh,” making him a far more menacing and terrifying character than his current biography suggests.

A Glimpse of Volibear’s Rework?

Many speculate that this new depiction of Volibear could be a teaser for his rework, which was leaked in a Reddit post at the end of 2018. The leaked information accurately predicted the Kayle rework and this year’s Lunar Revel Skins, adding credibility to the possibility of Volibear’s rework. However, it remains uncertain whether Udyr will also receive any updates or enhancements.

Mordekaiser Up Next

In addition to “Silence for the Damned,” Riot has also released updated lore pages for Kayle and Morgana, coinciding with their reworks. As for Volibear and Udyr, Riot has yet to confirm any future updates. According to Riot’s roadmap, the next champion scheduled for a rework is Mordekaiser.
