Six teams finished within one game of the top spot in the NA LCS regular season, resulting in a thrilling conclusion and a day of tie breakers. While tie breakers don’t count for fantasy scoring, there were still plenty of upsets and drama that had implications for fantasy picks. Let’s take a look at our fantasy picks from the week and see where we went wrong.
NA LCS Week 9 Saturday
Saturday’s games were hard-fought and low-scoring, making it difficult for fantasy scoring. Echo Fox performed well against Flyquest, despite starting substitute players in mid and support roles. Johnny “Altec” Ru and Heo “Huni” Seung Hoon were the top two scoring players of the day. TSM had a relatively low-scoring win against Golden Guardians, while some 100 Thieves players, like top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho, had strong fantasy performances.
We missed out on Team Liquid’s impressive win against Cloud9, with three Team Liquid players ranking in the top seven scorers. Our fantasy picks were focused on building a solid roster of value selections.
NA LCS Week 9 Sunday
The NA LCS had a day full of tie breakers on Sunday, but only the real matches mattered for fantasy. TSM and 100 Thieves performed well, while Cloud9 disappointed. Echo Fox and Cloud9 hurt our fantasy picks, but we hit on Clutch Gaming, who had the top scorer of the day.
The results in NA produced a mix of fantasy scores split between the winning teams. Consistent performers like Bjergsen, Cody Sun, and Doublelift put up big numbers. It was clear that stacking the best matchups wasn’t enough to build a winning fantasy team.
Fantasy MVP: Peter “Doublelift” Peng, ADC, Team Liquid
Team Liquid proved to be one of the top-performing teams of the week, with Doublelift leading the way. Doublelift had an impressive week with a flawless KDA, ranking sixth and second overall on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Best Value: William “Meteos” Hartman, Jungle, 100 Thieves
Meteos proved to be a strong fantasy pick once again, contributing to 100 Thieves’ success. He had a solid showing on Sunday, ranking second at the jungle position.
The final week of the NA LCS showcased the competitiveness of the playoff teams and how important it is to pick players who consistently perform. This week’s fantasy contest winners succeeded by selecting the right players from multiple teams, rather than just stacking one team.
