Multiple organizations seek coaching services from LS for 2021

League of Legends Personality LS Approached by Multiple Teams for Coaching Role

Popular color caster and League of Legends personality Nicholas “LS” De Cesare has received offers from several teams across different regions to take on a coaching role in 2021, according to a report by Inven Global. Teams from the four major regions, including Korean powerhouse T1, have expressed interest in working with LS.

LS: The Controversial Figure in the League Community

LS is a well-known figure in the League community, known for his outspoken views on the “correct” way to play the game, particularly in terms of drafting and itemization. As a former professional Starcraft player, he brings a unique perspective to his analysis, often using Magic: The Gathering terms to describe drafting in League. His Twitch stream is popular for its in-depth discussions on itemization and team compositions.

LS’s Coaching Background and Ties to T1

While LS has been primarily working as a color caster for the LCK broadcast since 2016, he does have some history in professional coaching. He previously served as a coach for bbq Olivers, becoming the first international coach employed by a Korean organization. LS also offers private coaching to solo queue players through his Twitch stream and Discord.

Although LS did not confirm the ongoing conversation with T1 regarding a coaching position, he did mention his intention to meet T1 CEO Joe Marsh during his time in Korea. T1, a globally recognized brand in esports, has been expanding its influence since its joint venture with Comcast Spectacor in 2019. Hiring a foreign coach would align with their goal of global esports domination.

The Potential Impact of LS on T1

T1 is renowned in the League esports world, boasting three world championship titles, the most of any organization in history. However, the team’s recent performance has seen a decline, failing to reach the finals in the 2020 Summer Split. With the benching of star mid laner Faker and other roster changes, T1 appears to be undergoing a period of transformation. Bringing on LS as a coach could signify a significant shift in their approach.
