MSI Takes a Historic Step: Co-streaming Introduced for the First Time in LoL, Yet Fans Express One Concern

Riot Games Allows 30 Streamers to Co-Stream Mid-Season Invitational 2023

Riot Games has recently announced that 30 streamers will have the opportunity to co-stream the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational 2023. However, fans are concerned due to a lack of details regarding the identities of these streamers.

The news quickly gained attention on Reddit, where fans expressed their excitement about the inclusion of popular League of Legends streamers such as IWDominate. On the other hand, some fans debunked these hopes by claiming that the co-streamers allowed for MSI 2023 are non-League streamers like Sykkuno.

Although the list of invited content creators has not been revealed yet, some fans have reported that certain League streamers did not receive an invitation. One fan wrote, “LS didn’t [get invited], Dom didn’t […] Apparently Riot are inviting non-League streamers for co-stream as a way to attract outside viewership. Real-life people like Sykkuno and others from the OfflineTV/Mizkif group.”

Many people believe that Riot’s decision to include non-League streamers is not aimed at enhancing the experience for League fans by allowing their favorite creators to co-stream, but rather to attract a new audience to the event. With streamers like Sykkuno rumored to co-stream, MSI 2023 would reach individuals who do not typically follow League’s esports scene.

Riot’s Previous Controversial Decisions Regarding Co-Streaming

If this belief holds true, it would not be the first time Riot has allowed non-League content creators to co-stream their major events. Only a select few, like Sykkuno and Ibai, were permitted to co-stream the Worlds 2022 finals, which received backlash from the community. Many fans expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that League streamers were not given the opportunity to co-stream, despite their dedication and hard work.

Anticipation for Co-Streamers Unveiling

The list of invited co-streamers for MSI 2023 is yet to be revealed. Fans can expect to see the lineup in the coming days, as the event is set to begin on May 2.
