Montpellier, France Expected to Host LEC Finals in 2023

2023 LEC Finals to be Held in Montpellier, France

The 2023 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) finals will reportedly be held in the scenic city of Montpellier, in the south of France. According to independent journalist Brieuc Seeger, this decision marks an exciting move for the European League tournament.

The LEC finals in 2023 will introduce a new format, where the competition will be split into three parts. Unlike previous seasons, the finals will not only crown a European champion for the split but for the entire season.

Riot Games, the organizer of the LEC, has not yet confirmed the location. However, a French-speaking source called aAa had already reported several days ago that the LEC “semifinals” would be held in Montpellier.

Montpellier: A Hub for Esports Events

Montpellier has already played host to numerous esports events, making it a fitting venue for a prestigious European League tournament. The city’s previous experience with esports events has likely contributed to its selection as the home for the 2023 LEC finals.

Exciting Developments for League of Legends in 2023

Aside from the LEC finals in Montpellier, Brieuc Seeger also noted that the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational of League of Legends will take place in London, while the World Championship is set to return to South Korea next year. These announcements add to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the upcoming League of Legends tournaments.

As we await further updates on the LEC finals, the offseason transfers for the 2023 competitive season are also in full swing. The season will kick off in January with the Season Kickoff event, replacing the previous All-Star tournaments.
