Mikyx hints at potential absence from League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational

Mikyx May Miss 2019 Mid-Season Invitational Due to Injury

Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, support player for G2 Esports, may not be able to compete at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). In an Instagram post, Mikyx revealed that his long-term repetitive strain injury in his wrists is restricting his ability to play League of Legends. He has been reducing his scrim time and spending time on the bench to recover from the pain.

Earlier in the season, Mikyx was temporarily replaced by Hampus “promisq” Mikael Abrahamsson due to his injury. However, Mikyx returned for the playoffs and helped G2 beat Origen in back-to-back series. Despite his comeback, he is still experiencing pain and is uncertain about his participation in MSI.

In a post-series interview with esports host Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, Mikyx expressed his concerns about not being able to play solo queue or scrim against top teams during boot camp in South Korea. He remains hopeful about his recovery, but it is unlikely to happen in time for MSI. If Mikyx is unable to compete, promisq will likely take his place.

Regardless of the outcome, Mikyx is determined to give his all and prioritize his healing and recovery. The play-in stage of MSI starts on May 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where teams from around the world will compete for international glory.
