Mikyx blames limited practice for G2’s struggle in the opening week of the 2020 LEC Summer Split

G2 Esports Struggles in the League of Legends Summer Split

G2 Esports, the dominant force in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), hasn’t had the start fans were hoping for in the 2020 Summer Split. With losses to Origen and Team Vitality, the team stumbled in a surprising fashion.

Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle’s Tough Game

G2’s star support player, Mikyx, had a particularly difficult time in their loss against Vitality, with six deaths and only two assists. According to the 21-year-old, there were several small issues that contributed to their underwhelming performances.

Drafting Issues and Lack of Scrims

Mikyx mentioned that drafting was a common problem in their matches. The team hadn’t scrimmaged for the past week, which put them at a disadvantage. The lack of practice impacted G2’s team play, preventing them from closing the gap against their opponents.

Looking Ahead

G2 will have the opportunity to bounce back in week two as they go up against struggling Schalke 04 and a surging Rogue squad. This upcoming week is crucial for the perennial European champions to regain their form and reclaim their dominance in the LEC.

The 2020 LEC Summer Split continues on Friday, June 19.
