Mid-Split 1 2019 Power Rankings for the OPL

If you haven’t been following the Oceania Pro League recently, you might be wondering why the standings look so different this season. Many big-name players have switched teams during the 2019 offseason, changing the landscape of the OPL.

The OPL is now at its halfway point, and here is how each team is looking heading into the final few weeks of action.

8) Dire Wolves

This year has been tough for Oceania’s former powerhouse.

The Dire Wolves are used to sitting at the top of the standings. With four international appearances, the once dominant Dire Wolves have struggled in 2019.

Putting their faith in developing OCS talent has left the champion squad struggling to find wins, with only one victory in 12 matches. While Dire Wolves have a history of finding and growing talented players, their current squad lacks the experience to compete with even the mid-table teams.

7) Legacy Esports

Legacy Esports, one of the veteran teams in the OPL, is facing challenges this year. They have never finished below fourth place in an OPL split, but it looks like they might miss the playoffs for the first time in the organization’s history. Legacy lost its entire 2018 roster, including their star mid laner, and has struggled to find success this season with only three wins.

6) Gravitas

Pabu’s hair is as iconic as the #IAMOPL hashtag on Twitter.

Gravitas, home to 2018 All-Star one-vs-one runner-up Pabu, has had some solid performances in their debut season. While their roster may not have the same star power as other teams, they have put up competitive fights against some of the best. However, a tough schedule heading into the playoffs might be challenging for them. If they can handle the pressure, they have a chance to finish in the top five.

5) Order

Does Tally ever stop smiling?

Order is known for consistently finishing fourth in the OPL, but this season they have been underwhelming. While veterans Sam “Spookz” Broadley and Simon “Swiffer” Papamarkos have performed well, AD carry Ronan “Dream” Swingler has been inconsistent, holding the team back. However, Order still has a chance to make a strong playoff run, with their match against Avant in week nine as a crucial test.

4) Avant Gaming

Avant Gaming was underrated by many at the start of the split, but they have exceeded expectations. Combining players from the relegated Tectonic squad with OCS talent has worked well for them. They have been rotating their junglers, but their performance has been solid. With crucial games against Mammoth approaching, Avant has a chance to secure their best placement in years.

3) Mammoth

Mammoth, considered the superteam of Split 1, had a slow start but are now on a five-game win streak. With a strong roster including players from Dire Wolves and Chiefs, they are emerging as title contenders. Their games against the Bombers and Avant in week seven will be crucial in determining their playoff chances.

2) Chiefs Esports Club

Big Swips, the Rock In The Top, has looked solid this year.

The Chiefs have been second-best to the Dire Wolves in the past three splits, and they are determined to return to the top. OPL rookie Eyla has performed exceptionally well, and the experienced players on the roster have stood out. Their upcoming rematch against the Bombers will be a good indication of their playoff potential.

1) Bombers

Facing relegation for years, the Bombers have finally found success in the OPL. After making the playoffs last split, they completely revamped their roster and brought in talented players from Australia and Korea. The team has been dominant, with only one loss to the Chiefs. The Bombers are on track to claim their first OPL title.

The OPL will return on Feb. 28 with the Bombers facing Mammoth at 11 PM CT.
