Matt rejoins Team Liquid, set to compete on TL Academy in 2019

Former Golden Guardians Support Matt Returns to Team Liquid

Matthew “Matt” Elento, former support player for the Golden Guardians, has announced his return to Team Liquid. In a video posted on YouTube, Matt revealed that he will be playing on the Academy League team.

A Brief Background

Matt previously played for Team Liquid and its Academy affiliate from May 2015 to December 2017. However, he then joined the Golden Guardians, a newly-formed team. Unfortunately, the Golden Guardians struggled in the NA LCS splits of 2018 and finished the year with a combined record of 9-27, placing last in both splits.

Looking for a Fresh Start

In the video, Matt expressed his desire to return to a solid environment and prove himself as a top LCS pro. He acknowledged that his time with the Golden Guardians provided him with valuable experience, despite the team’s performance.

A Return to Team Liquid

Prior to this announcement, Matt had played several Academy matches for Team Liquid. However, he did not compete in a full split in the league. Now, as a member of TL Academy, Matt will be playing alongside bot laner Quentin “Shoryu” Pereira and jungler Mike Yeung, who previously played for TSM and their Academy League team in 2018.
