Massive changes coming for Ahri in Patch 8.6

Ahri to Undergo Significant Changes in League of Legends

Ahri, the popular champion in League of Legends, has managed to maintain her gameplay without any major alterations since the start of the new season in January. This is quite impressive considering the numerous changes introduced to champions and the game itself compared to past seasons. However, her streak of luck is about to end with the latest PBE update.

Every single ability of Ahri is being modified, introducing brand new mechanics and adjusting damage output. These changes will significantly alter her gameplay experience, making her feel like an entirely new champion. Nonetheless, rest assured that she is still Ahri and retains her unique essence, but players will have to adapt to the new mechanics and power spikes.

Major Changes in Ahri’s Abilities

Starting with her Orb of Deception, Ahri will no longer receive a boost in movement speed. The addition of new features to her Spirit Rush and Fox-Fire abilities required power to be removed from another part of her kit, and the movement speed from her Q seemed like the most appropriate target.

The cooldown for Fox-Fire will now commence on cast rather than when the last hit is triggered, allowing for easier spamming. To balance this change, the cooldown has been slightly increased, but the benefits of the new cooldown system outweigh this drawback. Additionally, her Spirit Rush will now begin with three charges and gradually increase to five with ability rank instead of always having three charges.

Increased Mobility and Power Spike

These modifications grant Ahri greater mobility during late-game teamfights, enabling her to have a greater impact when ahead. One of her main issues was struggling to carry games despite having more kills and being at a higher level, so this adjustment serves as a significant fix.

Ahri’s ultimate ability, after damaging an enemy champion, will now lower the cooldowns of her other spells by one second. Combined with the increased charges, this creates a substantial power spike for Ahri, forcing enemy teams to strategize and play around her ultimate ability.

Damage Tweaks and Overall Buff for Ahri

Changes to Ahri’s Charm and Spirit Rush focus on raising her base damage while lowering her AP scaling. This reduces her reliance on items and places greater importance on leveling up her abilities. Consequently, she can now overpower opponents more easily by emphasizing ability ranks rather than rushing high AP items. The base damage for her Fox-Fire ability remains the same, but its AP scaling has been slightly increased, compensating for the late-game power loss caused by changes to her Charm and ultimate abilities.

If these changes make it through the PBE testing cycle and into the live game in two weeks, they will have a significant impact on Ahri, ultimately serving as a buff for the champion.
