Martin Shkreli and Gerard Kelly face lawsuit in New York for alleged payment defaults

Martin Shkreli, the former CEO of Turing Pharmaceutical and notorious for his price gouging of AIDS-related drug Daraprim, is facing a legal dispute in esports. He is being sued for allegedly owing $25,000 to people in the esports industry. The case is currently in trial court in Manhattan. Shkreli’s gaming organization, Maelstrom Gaming, and its co-owner Gerard Kelly are also defendants in the case. The debt is owed to Challenger Series coach and former player Rohit Nathani, along with several other players and a manager. Shkreli is also alleged to owe another $50,000 to parties in Europe. The lawyer representing Nathani is calling for accountability from team owners and the teams themselves. It is unclear whether Shkreli will be held accountable for the alleged debt. Ali Saba, the former manager of Ex Nihilo, has also called out Shkreli on Twitter, indicating that this is just the beginning. When asked to comment on the case, Shkreli’s lawyer declined.
