Maokai and Hecarim Experience Surge in Solo Queue after League Patch 12.17

Maokai and Hecarim Dominate Solo Queue Following Latest League of Legends Patch

After the latest patch in League of Legends, Maokai and Hecarim have experienced significant improvements in their performance in solo queue. Their win rates, pick rates, and ban rates have all seen a substantial increase according to LoLalytics.com, a popular stat site for the game.

Before the patch, Maokai was rarely chosen in games above Platinum and Diamond ranks. However, after the patch was implemented on September 8th, his pick rate skyrocketed from less than one percent to seven percent. Additionally, his win rate increased from around 50 percent to 53 percent.

Hecarim’s situation is similar to Maokai’s. Prior to the patch, his pick rate was no more than five percent. Now, in the Platinum and Diamond ranks, his pick rate has risen to around 17 percent. His win rate in both ranks has also increased by two to three percent, reaching 51.49 percent in Diamond and higher. Furthermore, Hecarim’s ban rate has surged to 62.11 percent in Diamond and above.

The adjustments made to both champions have focused on improving their abilities and roles. Maokai has been strengthened as a tank with better sustain in the jungle, while Hecarim has transformed into a damage-dealing bruiser rather than a solely engaging tank.

With the increasing dominance of Maokai and Hecarim in solo queue, it is highly likely that they will make appearances in the upcoming Worlds 2021 tournament. The tournament will be played on Patch 12.18 and is set to begin on September 29th.
