Manager and mid laner from DragonX contribute more than $16,000 to aid Korean coronavirus victims

DragonX Donates to Fight COVID-19 Outbreak

The coronavirus outbreak has led to increased fatalities worldwide. To show their support, DragonX general manager Choi Sang-In and mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon have individually donated 10 million won ($8,385.68) to the Community Chest of Korea, an organization that aids victims of the outbreak [source].

Amidst the global crisis, the LCK has once again postponed its matches, including the “Sunday Night LCK” talk show. The league has been played without an audience, and host Kim Mina had to undergo quarantine until testing negative for the virus.

The COVID-19 outbreak has spread rapidly worldwide, surpassing mainland China in terms of infections. South Korea is currently the country with the highest number of reported cases outside of China.

In addition to the donations by Chovy and Choi Sang-In, revenue generated from the sale of DragonX merchandise during March will also be donated.

In South Korea, other esports organizations and players have also stepped up to help combat the virus. On February 19, the Seoul Dynasty, an Overwatch League team, pledged to donate profits earned from their canceled homestand event on March 7.

Meanwhile, Riot Games has yet to announce the date and location of the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational.
