The Story of Malphite in League of Legends
The new champion bio for Malphite in League of Legends reveals his connection to the ancient war between the Shurima empire and the destructive chaos of the Void.
Malphite’s story begins after the destruction of Icathia, Jax’s nation, by the Void. In a desperate attempt to destroy the powerful kingdom of Shurima, Icathia unleashed the Void upon it. Shurima was quickly overwhelmed by the Void’s onslaught. Fearing the worst, Shurima turned to a powerful mage named Ne’Zuk for help. Ne’Zuk promised to create a weapon capable of driving the Void back into the Earth.
Ne’Zuk spent months crafting his masterpiece, a floating castle made of magic-infused stone. The magic imbued the stone with consciousness and the ability to repair itself when damaged.
The mage gathered his followers and the superweapon he created and confronted the growing threat of the Void. The two forces battled for weeks, causing massive destruction and spreading the corruption of the Void.
As the battle continued, the Void began to gain the upper hand and the floating monolith created by Ne’Zuk crashed into the Earth. The collision unleashed the full force of the Void into the skies, resulting in the deaths of Ne’Zuk’s followers and the destruction of the weapon.
Although the magical fortress was reduced to rubble, a shard buried beneath the Earth managed to escape the destruction. Over centuries, it slowly repaired itself and became known as “Malphite.”
Malphite senses the return of the Void to the realm and is prepared to fulfill its creator’s intended purpose of driving it back.
