Golden Guardians Announces Coaching Staff for 2023 LCS Season

Golden Guardians has revealed its coaching staff for the upcoming 2023 League of Legends (LoL) season, and all of the members are familiar faces within the organization. The entire coaching staff has been promoted internally, showcasing the team’s commitment to nurturing talent from within.

Leading the franchise’s staff is head coach Samuel “Spookz” Broadley, who has been with the organization as an assistant coach since 2019. He will be assisted primarily by Aaron “Chuz” Bland, another long-standing member of the team since 2019.

“After 10 years of competing and coaching in the LoL scene, I’m ready and grateful for this opportunity,” Spookz shared on Twitter. “I have really great support at GG and am excited to see what we can produce in 2023.”

Joining the coaching lineup are Brandon “Swip3rR” Holland as the Academy-level coach and Morgan “Hustlin” Granberg as a two-way player-coach. Hustlin, a seven-year LoL veteran and former EU LCS pro, played with the team during the recent Proving Grounds event and will continue to contribute both on and off the Rift in 2023.

Three out of the four coaches mentioned in the announcement have roots in the Oceanic LoL scene. Spookz, Chuz, and Swip3rR all competed in the Oceanic circuit during the 2010s.

Earlier this year, former head coach Nick “Inero” Smith was promoted to the GM role. Inero emphasized that streamlining the coaching staff to these four members will allow the team to focus more on performance and analytics.

In the 2022 season, Golden Guardians qualified for both the LCS Spring and Summer Split playoffs but failed to secure a series victory. Moving forward, the team plans to build a veteran core and gradually integrate young, promising players into their ranks.

The roster for the 2023 season has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates!
