Major Rune Overhauls Coming with League of Legends Patch 7.24

League of Legends Patch 7.24: Balancing Runes and Key Changes

The highly-anticipated League of Legends Patch 7.24 is set to launch tomorrow. This will be the first patch following the introduction of the new runes system last month, and it is primarily focused on balancing the runes.

In this patch, the main attention is on addressing the most problematic runes since their release. These include Kleptomancy, Triumph, Lethal Tempo, and Press the Attack. Additionally, weaker runes like Overheal and Fleet Footwork are receiving buffs to make them more viable. Overall, this patch primarily consists of nerfs to various runes.

The Nerfs and Changes

Kleptomancy is not strictly unbalanced, as it functions well on most champions. However, certain champions, such as Ezreal and Gangplank, have been utilizing it to their advantage. The nerf to Kleptomancy will reduce its effectiveness for these particular champions, while not significantly affecting others. Specifically, the range of an auto attack after triggering Kleptomancy will no longer be boosted, and adjustments to the algorithm will decrease the likelihood of rolling the same item repetitively.

The Precision rune path is currently the most imbalanced in the game, requiring additional attention from Riot’s balance team. Triumph will be nerfed and heal for less, Coup de Grace will deal slightly lower damage, and Press the Attack’s Exposure will only apply to the attack following its application. Fleet Footwork will provide even greater healing, especially when triggered by a critical strike, and Lethal Tempo’s cooldown will be reduced by a few seconds. Furthermore, Overheal will generate a larger shield.

However, the rune changes are not exclusive to the Precision path. In Patch 7.24, Phase Rush’s slow resistance will now benefit ranged attackers, making it significantly more useful. Celerity is being nerfed to provide slightly less movement speed. On the Resolve path, Revitalize is receiving a buff that allows it to apply to shields and heals from allies, while Mirror Shell will now provide six magic resistance (MR) instead of five.

Coming Soon to North America

All these significant rune changes will be implemented with the release of Patch 7.24 on the North America server tomorrow morning.
