MAD Lions secure Worlds group stage and LEC finals after an intense sweep against Rogue

MAD Lions Retain LEC Championship Title with Convincing Victory over Rogue

Reigning champions MAD Lions proved once again that they are the best team in Europe by sweeping Rogue in a Spring Finals rematch. MAD Lions have been dominant in the 2021 season, winning all of their domestic best-of-five series, including three victories over Rogue and two over G2.

In game one, MAD Lions set the tone with their top laner Armut’s outstanding performance on Jayce. He secured 10 kills with 95 percent kill participation and dealt 21,000 damage to champions. MAD mid laner Humanoid also contributed significantly with 10,900 damage on Ryze.

Game two was an intense 49-minute battle, with Rogue showcasing their superior teamfighting skills. However, MAD Lions’ support Kaiser punished every mistake with impactful playmaking on Alistar. Rogue’s ADC Hans Sama’s positioning error on Aphelios ultimately led to their defeat.

In game three, Rogue made a comeback, taking down five towers and amassing a significant gold lead. But MAD Lions fought back with calculated teamfighting, eventually stunning Rogue and securing the victory.

MAD Lions have faced numerous challenges in 2021, including a disappointing performance at Worlds 2020, COVID-related quarantines, and mental health hurdles. Despite these obstacles, they have shown resilience and determination.

Both MAD Lions and Rogue have qualified for Worlds, but Rogue still needs to secure a group stage berth by defeating the winner of the Fnatic vs. G2 matchup.
