MAD Lions secure their first LEC title in an exciting reverse sweep against Rogue

MAD Lions Crowned 2021 LEC Spring Split Champions

MAD Lions emerged victorious as the champions of the 2021 LEC Spring Split after an intense series of games against Rogue. These two teams proved themselves by defeating the former kings of Europe, G2 Esports, signaling a new era in the European League of Legends scene.

A Hard-fought Battle

The young MAD Lions roster faced early setbacks, trailing 0-2 in the first two matches. However, they showcased exceptional macro play and teamfighting skills, even as Rogue controlled the pace to gain an early lead.

Each player on Rogue played a crucial role in their team’s dominance, with Trymbi’s impressive engages on Rell, Inspired’s map-wide pick-offs, Larssen’s control with Orianna and Viktor, and Odoamne and Hans Sama’s dominance in teamfights.

Nonetheless, MAD Lions never wavered from their aggressive playstyle. They adapted their team compositions by bringing out Wukong in the top lane, a clever choice against Rogue’s controlled style of play. Armut’s stellar performance with 11 kills and five assists helped lead MAD Lions to a decisive game five.

The Thrilling Finale

The final game between MAD Lions and Rogue was a nail-biter, with MAD Lions ultimately outplaying their opponents in several incredibly close teamfights.

A Historic Victory

This marks the first time in six years that a team other than Fnatic or G2 has won the LEC trophy. MAD Lions’ outstanding season has earned them the honor of having their name and logo added to the wall of champions in the LEC studios in Berlin.

Let’s see what MAD Lions can achieve at MSI and make Europe proud!
