MAD Lions Eliminate LEC Defending Champions from 2023 Spring Playoffs, Maintain MSI Aspirations

MAD Lions Earn Respect with Victory Over G2 Esports

MAD Lions’ League of Legends team faced doubt from skeptics after struggling through the 2023 LEC Spring Split. However, they proved their capabilities by defeating the defending champions.

Despite G2 Esports being favored to win, both teams struggled to establish dominance during the series. MAD looked less cohesive compared to G2, who had recently won two consecutive series against SK Gaming and KOI.

G2 struggled to adapt their playstyle around Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, who excelled on picks like Jinx and Lucian. MAD showcased superior coordination, catching G2 out of position and outplaying them in late game teamfights.

In the final game, AD carry Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság achieved six kills and five assists without dying. Partnered with Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov on Pyke, their high burst, and coordinated team composition of Gragas, Wukong, and Kennen overwhelmed G2.

With this 3-2 loss, G2’s hopes of defending their LEC throne against Team BDS have been shattered. However, they have time to regroup and strategize before the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, which begins on Tuesday, May 2.

MAD still has to face Team Vitality in the lower bracket run before reaching the finals against BDS. This match will feature top players like jungler Zhou “Bo” Yang-Bo and veteran mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković.

Don’t miss the thrilling battles as MAD Lions face Team Vitality tomorrow, April 22, at 11am CT.
