MAD Lions Dominate Cloud9, Remain Undefeated in MSI Rumble Stage Debut

MAD Lions Dominate Cloud9 in MSI Rumble Stage

MAD Lions started off the rumble stage of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational with a commanding victory over Cloud9. The European League of Legends team showcased their dominance and finished the first day of the tournament 2-0.

In their previous match, MAD Lions easily defeated LCO’s Pentanet.GG, while Cloud9 suffered a heartbreaking loss to LPL’s Royal Never Give Up. This difference in momentum could have affected the confidence levels of both teams going into the game.

Right from the beginning, MAD Lions forced Cloud9 to play into their preferred style, leading to early skirmishes that heavily favored MAD Lions. In a teamfight at the four-minute mark, MAD’s jungler Elyoya secured three kills, while Cloud9 came away empty-handed.

With their early advantage, MAD Lions easily snowballed their lead to success. Cloud9 struggled to catch up and often fell into traps set by MAD Lions or failed in their attempts to engage due to the growing disadvantage.

By the 15-minute mark, MAD Lions had amassed a massive lead of over 8,000 gold, with 12 kills, two dragons, and three towers. Despite finding some occasional picks, Cloud9 couldn’t close the gap due to MAD Lions’ relentless pressure across the map. The final gold lead for MAD Lions was a staggering 15,000, with complete objective control except for one Rift Herald.

Challenging Matches Ahead

MAD Lions will face tough opponents in their upcoming matches against RNG and PSG Talon. Both teams have been performing exceptionally well in the tournament and will provide a challenging test for the European representatives.

Cloud9, on the other hand, needs to regroup after their two disappointing losses. While they have experience in mounting comebacks, the competition in the rumble stage of MSI is much more unforgiving.
