MAD Lions crush G2 in LEC opening weekend finale, secure second place in league

G2 Esports Falls to MAD Lions in LEC Clash

In the latest match in the LEC, G2 Esports enlisted Runeterra’s Rogue Sentinel, Akshan, in their battle against MAD Lions. Unfortunately, Akshan wasn’t enough to stop the pride of Europe.

G2 Esports vs MAD Lions

Both teams entered the League of Legends game today with contrasting fortunes. After a grueling 55-minute slugfest against SK Gaming, MAD aimed to bounce back. On the other hand, G2 was riding high on back-to-back victories against Excel Esports and Astralis. While G2 had the momentum, the Lions had different ideas for the game.

MAD Lions Emerges Victorious

In just 27 minutes, MAD Lions showcased a clean game securing a 2-1 victory against G2 Esports. The Lions dominated the game, ensuring G2 had no chance to turn things around.

G2 strategically picked Akshan and Kassadin in the draft to set themselves up for victory. Kassadin reaches his most powerful state at level 16, forcing MAD to make aggressive moves and prevent Caps from becoming a problem.

MAD’s Ornn, Thresh, and Jarvan IV enabled the team to press G2 relentlessly. They capitalized on opportunities, finding picks and initiating skirmishes at a moment’s notice. The team’s rookie AD carry, UNF0RGIVEN, played exceptionally well, achieving seven kills and three deaths. The 21-year-old Swede received the Player of the Game award for his outstanding performance.

Standings and Next Week’s Matches

G2, MAD, and Misfits Gaming currently share second place with 2-1 records, while Fnatic and Rogue remain unbeaten. Next week, as players settle into their new environment and teams develop more synergy, the standings may start to change.

Don’t miss the next match as both G2 Esports and MAD Lions return to Summoner’s Rift. The LEC continues on Friday, Jan. 21.
