The “Biggest Missed Opportunity” Champion in League of Legends, According to Players
League of Legends champions are known for their intriguing lores, but sometimes their in-game abilities don’t quite measure up. Recently, players on Reddit discussed the champion they believe is the “biggest missed opportunity.”
Nilah quickly came up as a contender in the discussion. Players feel that she has an incredible and deep lore, tied to a demon named Ashlesh. However, her abilities on Summoner’s Rift don’t live up to her potential.
“Don’t get me wrong, I actually love the champ, but there’s so much more they could have done with a melee waterbender who is the physical prison of the Demon of Joy than just making her Water Yasuo,” claimed a top comment on Reddit.
Players have a point. Nilah’s lore connects her to Ashlesh and the manipulation of water, but in-game she is reduced to a mid-range champion with abilities that are similar to Yasuo’s. Despite still being enjoyable to play, there’s a sense of familiarity and lack of originality when choosing Nilah.
Other champions mentioned as missed opportunities include Malzahar, Shyvana, and Bel’Veth. These champions also have strong arguments when it comes to their lore versus their abilities.
Malzahar, as an acolyte of the void, heavily relies on his single-target ultimate. Shyvana, although partly a dragon, only gets to showcase her dragon form infrequently. Bel’Veth, the Empress of the Void, generates her own minions and possesses incredibly fast auto-attacks. While these champions have devoted players, it’s hard not to feel that their lore offered more potential for unique abilities.

Overall, it seems that players are looking for champions whose in-game abilities truly reflect the depth and potential of their lores.
