Loot Rewards in League of Legends: Players Disappointed with Decreased Quality
Riot Games is facing backlash from players as they continue to nerf loot boxes, capsules, and other rewards in League of Legends. Over the years, the quantity and quality of items received from loot capsules and chests have decreased, and players are expressing their frustration.
In 2016, when loot capsules and chests were first introduced as Hextech crafting, players were thrilled with the fantastic items and skins they could obtain. However, as time has passed, the value of these rewards has declined.
Players Lament the Decreased Value of Riot’s Rewards System
Previously, players could earn epic chests with high-value items like skins simply by watching professional League matches. Unfortunately, this has been replaced by Esports Capsules, which offer little of value.
On top of that, unlocking desired skins through the rewards systems has become nearly impossible without spending a fortune or investing weeks of gameplay.
Some players also miss the once-plentiful end-of-season rewards, such as the Challenger jackets for high-ranked players.
Divided Opinions on Riot’s Monetization of Rewards
While many players are dissatisfied with the decline in rewards, some argue that Riot has the right to monetize them, especially considering that League of Legends is free to play. They believe Riot should earn something from the game.
Others point to the existence of the Amazon Prime Capsule, which gives players enough Riot Points to purchase a new skin every month. They see Riot’s monetization as fair, as it doesn’t compromise gameplay for those who choose not to spend money.
There are even players who reminisce about the early days of gaming when rewards were minimal, suggesting that modern players should be grateful for what they receive.
