LoL community dismisses Yuumi’s rework despite statistical evidence from Riot Phreak

Yuumi Continues to Spark Controversy in League of Legends Community

Players in the League of Legends community are still concerned about the character Yuumi. Despite her recent rework, many players believe she is overpowered, even though the statistics show otherwise.

Yuumi’s Rework Leaves Many Unsatisfied

In a Reddit thread from June 8, a League player sarcastically asked for the release date of Yuumi’s rework. The rework had actually been released on March 7, but players were still seeing her picked too frequently in professional play.

Riot Games’ David “Phreak” Turley defended the developer in a comment, providing statistics that proved Yuumi’s rework was effective. In fact, her presence rate in professional play decreased by 6 to 14 percent, depending on the league.

On Patch 12.18 (the 2022 World Championship), Yuumi had a presence rate of 50 percent. In Patch 13.11 games, her presence rate dropped to 36 to 44 percent. Turley stated that this was a successful update and suggested that some professional players should improve their draft strategies.

Controversy Surrounding Yuumi’s Win Rate

Phreak’s comments received a significant number of downvotes, with some users highlighting Yuumi’s win rate in professional play. While her win rate is around 40 percent in the LEC and LCK Summer Splits, she has a 70 percent win rate in the LPL since her rework. This makes her the highest-performing support champion in the LPL. However, Yuumi is only the sixth most popular support pick overall.

Yuumi Remains a Divisive Champion

Yuumi has been a controversial champion since her release in May 2019. Her unique ability to attach herself to an ally and become untargetable has made her one of the most disliked champions in the game. She was even banned during the Mid-Season Invitational tournament in April, as she was considered unfit for professional play after her rework.

Throughout this year, Yuumi has received six nerfs following her rework, including one in the upcoming Patch 13.12. It’s clear that further changes will be made to her in this season, as Riot Games walks a fine line between balancing her power and keeping her relevant in the meta.
