LNG secures hard-earned win against winless TT in 2021 LPL Summer Split

LNG Secures Victory in Balanced Series Against TT

LNG emerged victorious in a closely contested series against TT in the third week of the 2021 LPL Summer Split.

TT has struggled to secure a win this summer after finishing in 13th place during the Spring Split. On the other hand, LNG entered the match with an undefeated record of 5-0. Despite this, many League of Legends fans expected a one-sided series ending in a 2-0 victory for LNG. However, TT proved them wrong.

Tense Battles and Unexpected Picks

The first game saw LNG take the lead with gold advantages in both lanes and from neutral objectives. In response, TT formulated a clear plan of action for the second game. With Xiaopeng’s Lee Sin as the jungler, TT’s solo laners capitalized on successful ganks, accumulating six kills for Xiaopeng before the nine-minute mark. Although Langx’s Gnar had a disadvantageous matchup against Ale’s Lucian in the top lane, he was continuously targeted by TT’s assassins and struggled to make an impact.

LNG excelled in teamfights, skirmishes, Baron control, and mid-game presence, boasting the second-highest gold lead at 25 minutes. However, their early game showed average performance. TT capitalized on this weakness to level the series. In the final game, TT adjusted their strategy by picking Lulu mid and Braum as support to enable the first Rek’Sai of the split to dominate. TT adopted a slower-paced playstyle during the early game, deviating from their usual fast-paced approach.

Clutch Plays and a Decisive Victory

TT’s strategy nearly paid off. LNG focused on punishing TT’s mistakes, allowing them to secure the initial lead. LNG made the first move by catching Patch’s Braum in the river, securing first blood at the 10-minute mark. They continued to secure more objectives than TT, gradually pushing towards their Nexus.

Despite dominating the mid-game, TT made a comeback after 30 minutes, with both teams taking turns securing leads through bloody teamfights around the Rift. The match remained balanced until the final teamfight when LNG’s top laner, Ale, made a risky teleport to flank TT’s team in their base and eliminate SamD’s Ezreal. This crucial play turned the tide of the game in LNG’s favor, leading them to victory in the series.

LNG’s Strong Start and Upcoming Matches

With a perfect record of 6-0, LNG has started the Summer Split on a strong note. They have defeated formidable teams like defending LPL champions RNG and spring playoff team FPX. Next, LNG will face off against Invictus Gaming on Sunday, June 27, at 4am CT as they aim to extend their winning streak to seven.

TT, on the other hand, will have a chance to secure their first victory of the split when they face V5 on June 25 at 4am CT.
